Four Men Impersonating as ISI Personnel Held
The police, in a breakthrough, have busted a gang of fraudsters, embroiled in embezzling billions of rupees, arrested four men impersonating themselves as ISI personnel and recovered boxes of fake dollars, wireless sets and military uniforms, SP (Sadar Zone) Jamil Hashmi said on Wednesday.
The police authorities received information regarding activities of members of a gang, who were plundering billions of rupees against fake dollars, the SP said adding that a team of expert police officials were constituted which made headway to the gangsters. “They were so confident that they some time stayed and dined in army messes,” the SP said and added that the Margalla Police, finally, got ringleader of the gang and recovered transparent boxes filled with fake US dollars. The boxes were sealed with US Department’s stamp, he maintained.
However, the scam broke when Margalla Police arrested Asif Riaz Alvi, son of Muhammad Riaz Alvi, in a kidnapping case who revealed during preliminary investigation his involvement in preparing fake US dollars with the help of his accomplices. Following the information provided by the nabbed accused, SP (Sadar) Jamil Hashmi directed SHO Margalla Police Ashraf Kahut to bust the gang through effective investigation.
The Margalla Police team including Inspector Ashraf Kahut, Sub-Inspector Asjad Mehmud, raided at Flat No.5, Second Floor, Awan Plaza, at Markaz G-8 and recovered tools used for preparing fake currency. Police team arrested three other persons during this raid and recovered fake letter pads of government departments and uniforms.
These nabbed persons have been identified as Amir Raza Mir, son of Nur Ahmed; Sohail Ahmed, son of Ghulam Sabir, and Zahid, son of Muhammad Ashraf.They confessed their involvement in cheating the simpletons and giving fake currency to them in return of various deals. They also admitted impersonating themselves as government officials and trying to use influence for various tasks.
IGP Islamabad Bani-Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq have appreciated the performance of Margalla Police team. The SSP has further directed the SP (Saddar) for special campaign to curb activities of anti-social elements and cheaters. He also announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for those policemen who nabbed these culprits.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Abdul Jabbar from Margalla Police traced a blind murder case. Zaheer Akhtar son of Dil Bagh resident of Bangial, Islamabad, killed Aurangzeb after firing and escaped after dumping his body in front of the gate of PIMS.Golra Police also arrested five persons Yasir, Umer, Sultan Shah, Riasat and Khurram Shehzad, who stabbed to death Tayyab at Karbadia Meera.
